Essential Feng Shui Tips: Philosophy of Feng Shui- Everything is Connected by Ch’i
Inner Feng Shui
Take a few moments to consider whether you have some unfriendly points of view about yourself or others. Your outer environment may include neighbors you dislike, alienated family members, or co-workers who are troublesome. Knowing how connected you are to other people, it’s time to reinstate harmony and balance in all relationships, including your relationship with yourself. Contemplate the meaning of healthy relationships, and practice generosity, compassion, honesty, and forgiveness, knowing that the quality of your life depends on it.

Living Rooms
Inner Feng Shui
Living rooms symbolize social interaction. Are you as friendly and kind to yourself as you are to your friends? Do you treat yourself like an honored guest—with kindness, love, and respect? Choose one of your best friends and focus your attention on that person for a few minutes. Consider the qualities that make up your friendship, and let your love and appreciation for this person well up inside you. Now, turn the tide, and give all that love and appreciation to yourself. Your health and happiness is enhanced when you love yourself as you do your best friend. Dr. Christiane Northrup, author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, has a wonderful affirmation she recommends that we say at least twice a day: “I UNCONDITIONALLY LOVE MYSELF, JUST THE WAY I AM, RIGHT NOW.” Live with this attitude, and you’ll strengthen every part of your life.

Alive with Ch’i
Inner Feng Shui
Look around and choose something that belongs to you. This object is alive with Ch’i. It could be your watch, your shirt, the chair you’re sitting on, or a nearby piece of art. As you focus on that one object, what comes to mind? A rich medley of feelings, memories, and associations may come up—for example, when you bought or received it, what the occasion was, whether it was a good deal, who was there, and so on. Remember-everything we surround ourselves with is alive with Ch’i. Ask, “Do the thoughts and feelings this object brings with it strengthen or weaken my sense of well-being?” If, in fact, it weakens your sense of well-being, are you willing, ready, and able to let it go?

Closets, Drawers, and Cabinets
Inner Feng Shui
Each item in our closets, drawers, and cabinets has a tale to tell about why it’s still in our possession. Contemplate what each item is “saying” to you. Is it scolding you for gaining weight or being clumsy? Is it broken, torn, or something you never liked? Listen and learn from the things that “bring you down,” and once you’ve heard what they have to say, let them go. Now’s your chance to open up those closets, drawers, and cabinets, step fully into the present, your place of power, and let go of anything that doesn’t have nice things to say. In so doing, your self-respect will soar.
